Webinar: Rethinking Anxiety in Neurodivergence

Anxiety is one of the most common issues neurodivergent people bring to therapy — and one that is often misunderstood.

Standard therapeutic approaches were not developed with neurodivergent people in mind. When therapists apply these strategies without adapting for neurodivergent differences, therapy can feel like gaslighting and become more pathologising than helpful.

For Autistic people, ADHDers, and those with other forms of neurodivergence, such as OCD, PTSD, Tourette’s, and paranoia, interventions must start by recognising the impact of the person’s context. This fundamentally changes how you formulate and work with anxiety in therapy.

This two-hour webinar with Jennifer Kemp, clinical psychologist and late-diagnosed Autistic ADHDer, offers a transdiagnostic pathway to understanding and alleviating anxiety in neurodivergent adolescents and adults.

Drawing on clinical expertise, lived experiences and neurodiversity-affirming principles, this webinar will deepen your skills beyond the basics of neurodiversity-affirming practice.

You’ll learn why anxiety is so common among neurodivergent people, and why standard explanations are often incomplete. You’ll explore an evidence-based conceptualisation of anxiety in neurodivergent people that balances support for the person with changing the environment.
