Handout: List of Common Autistic Spins

This brief handout provides a list of common Autistic “special interests,” otherwise known in the Autistic community as “spins.” Autistic spins can be anything. No niche is too small, or topic too broad to be interesting. Connecting with your interests is known as being “in your spin,” and is an experience of joy, fascination, purpose, and deeply focused attention.  Spending time in your spin can be energising or calming, and is an important strategy for self-regulation and self-soothing.
